Xbox Elite Series 3 Leak Points to Hall Effect and TMR Thumbsticks

Xbox Elite Series 3 Leak Points to Hall Effect and TMR Thumbsticks

Leaks have outlined the specifications and features of the Xbox Elite Series 3 controller. The upcoming Xbox pro controller is believed to carry the codename Edessa. It may also add features that the Xbox Elite Series 2 does not offer.

The details appeared in the backend of Xbox Design Lab, Microsoft’s official program for custom controllers. Reddit user esketitethan spotted the records, as reported by Digital Foundry. The user said the backend held configuration records and 3D component models for the controller.

The most notable leaked feature is a choice between Hall effect and TMR thumbsticks. Design Lab is said to list separate modules for standard, loose, and tight versions of both stick types. TMR sticks are described as more sensitive. Both designs also avoid the stick drift common in ordinary controllers.

The Elite Series 3 is also said to include impulse triggers and advanced haptic motors. A dedicated colour option for an audio scroll wheel appeared in the leak. That suggests the gamepad can adjust headset volume directly.

Other spotted options cover faceplates in different finishes, colours, engravings, and custom designs. Paddle choices are also wider. The D-pad is listed in standard, cross, and grippy versions. The leak points to four SKU combinations.

Microsoft has not officially announced the Xbox Elite Series 3. The Design Lab records still suggest an announcement may be close. For context, the Elite Wireless Series 2 launched in 2019 with adjustable-tension thumbsticks, rubberised grips, interchangeable parts, and shorter hair-trigger locks. It starts at $149.99 in the US. Design Lab already lets buyers customise that model, but those options are largely cosmetic.
