Samsung Unveils Galaxy Buds On, Its First Clip-On Galaxy Earphones

Samsung has unveiled the Galaxy Buds On, its first clip-on wireless earphones in the Galaxy Buds lineup. The earphones use an open design, so they do not block the ear canal. As a result, listeners can still hear surrounding sounds while they play music outdoors. Samsung has also outlined the audio, call, and AI features, along with a claimed 9.5 hours of playback on a single charge. Sales will start in South Korea later this month.

Samsung has priced the Galaxy Buds On at KRW 299,000 (about Rs. 21,000), according to its press release. The open-ear headset will go on sale in South Korea on October 27 in Black. A global rollout will follow.

The Galaxy Buds On clips around the ear instead of sitting inside the ear canal. Samsung says it studied different ear shapes to place the speakers and the battery. In addition, a wider contact area and an adjustable band are meant to keep the earphones secure during movement. Because the design stays open, users can hear nearby sounds during music and calls.

For sound, the earphones use Samsung’s TwinBoost speakers and automatic volume control. The system changes the listening level based on the surrounding environment. Samsung also adds Audio Leakage Reduction technology to limit sound that escapes from the earphones. That feature can help in shared spaces such as cafes and libraries.

Samsung claims up to 9.5 hours of music playback on a single charge. The earphones use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon S7 Gen 1 Sound Platform with a Class-D amplifier.

Call quality relies on three microphones, a bone-conduction Voice Pickup Unit sensor, and machine learning. Together, these parts separate voices from background noise. Samsung says the setup can keep calls clear in strong wind and around indoor appliance noise.

The open design also links to hands-free tools on compatible Galaxy AI devices. Users can start Gemini Live with a voice command, record notes through Quick Voice Memo, or use Head Gestures to answer calls, dismiss alarms, and check message alerts.

The Buds On connect to compatible Galaxy phones and tablets when the charging case opens. Users can change volume and the equaliser from phone settings or the quick panel. They do not need the Galaxy Wearable app for those controls.

Samsung has not yet shared several core details. These include the full driver setup, Bluetooth version, supported codecs, and complete battery and charging specifications. More information is expected when the Galaxy Buds On goes on sale in South Korea on October 27.
