Oppo Unveils ColorOS 17 and Shows Heartball AI Clip-On Wearable
Oppo held its annual developers conference on Thursday. The company unveiled ColorOS 17, built on Android 17. That software was the main focus. Oppo also introduced a new device called Heartball. Reports describe it as the company’s first AI-powered hardware. A later-2026 launch is expected.
Oppo showed how the Heartball clips onto clothing. A round base tucks behind a shirt. The front is a small ball-shaped head. A white finish appeared in the demo. An LED ring light sits on the front. A cutout under the ring may house a microphone. A button is visible on the right side.
ITHome reported the showcase and the Chinese name translated as Oppo Heartball. A company executive clipped the device onto a shirt during the event. China is expected to get the wearable later this year. Oppo has not set an exact date.
Weight is said to be about 9.8 grams. Battery life is claimed at up to 24 hours. The device is also said to work with office software and to support live audio recording. Reported features include low-fidelity recording, simplified recording, one-time text parsing with deletion after conversion, multi-layer private cloud computing, and private-key protection. Those claims still need official confirmation.
Many other specifications remain unannounced. Price and a global plan have not been shared. The product would take Oppo beyond phones, audio gear, and tablets.
ColorOS 17 arrived at the same event. Oppo presented a new “fluid design” and stronger on-device AI tools. The Find X10 series, OnePlus 16, and Oppo Watch S2 are among the first devices expected to run the software. A wider rollout list will follow. Heartball details should become clearer in the months ahead.
