Apple’s iPhone 18 Pro Max Battery Capacity Leaked Ahead of Launch
Apple may equip the iPhone 18 Pro Max with a much larger battery than before.
A fresh leak suggests the battery size will differ across regions. Moreover, the eSIM-only version could receive the biggest capacity.
According to the report, this eSIM model might become the first iPhone to cross the 5,400mAh mark.
A Weibo post by Duoge Internet Technology shared the details. In eSIM-only markets, the iPhone 18 Pro Max will reportedly come with a 5,425mAh battery. However, versions with a physical nano-SIM tray will feature a 5,235mAh cell instead.
The extra internal space from removing the SIM slot makes this difference possible.
An earlier leak also pointed to modest battery gains for the standard iPhone 18 Pro. The physical SIM variant may pack a 4,056mAh battery. Meanwhile, the eSIM version could carry 4,288mAh.
For context, the iPhone 17 Pro offers 3,998mAh in the physical SIM model and 4,252mAh in the eSIM model. Similarly, the iPhone 17 Pro Max comes with 4,823mAh for SIM-tray markets and 5,088mAh for eSIM-only regions.
Thus, the Pro Max appears ready for a stronger upgrade than the regular Pro.
Additionally, the iPhone 18 Pro Max will debut with Apple’s expected A20 Pro chipset. This processor uses an advanced 2nm process. As a result, the larger battery and efficient chip together promise better endurance. However, actual performance will still depend on software optimization and display efficiency.
Samsung’s Galaxy S26 Ultra currently matches the iPhone 17 Pro Max battery size. Rumors indicate the Galaxy S27 Ultra may reach 5,500mAh. Meanwhile, many Chinese flagships like the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max, Oppo Find X9 Pro, and OnePlus 15 already use batteries near 7,500mAh. Industry reports even suggest some Android devices could approach 9,000mAh soon.
Apple is widely expected to unveil the full iPhone 18 series in September 2026. Until then, these battery specifications remain unconfirmed.
