HMD Touch AI Feature Phone Launches in China with AI Tools
HMD has launched the Touch AI in China. This new feature phone combines a touchscreen with AI-powered tools. Its design draws clear inspiration from the classic Nokia Lumia series.
The handset supports dual 4G connectivity, Wi-Fi, hotspot sharing, and mobile payments. It also includes a dedicated SOS button. ByteDance’s Doubao AI model powers the device. Users gain access to AI-assisted translation, learning tools, photography features, and image generation.
In China, the HMD Touch AI costs CNY 469, or roughly Rs. 6,700. Buyers can already place pre-orders. The phone arrives in a cyan finish that echoes the Lumia look. HMD will also sell interchangeable rear covers in yellow, blue, and white.
The device features a 3.2-inch touchscreen. Full voice broadcast reads on-screen content aloud. This function helps reduce long screen time. The phone runs a closed operating system. It blocks third-party apps and short-video platforms. Parental controls, blacklist, and whitelist options come built in.
Everyday utilities include an MP3 player, calendar, alarm clock, world clock, countdown timer, calculator, unit converter, and the classic Snake game. Users can also adjust display brightness.
Six AI assistants handle a range of tasks. They offer conversational help, storytelling, question answering, and emotional guidance. The system supports Chinese-English translation and spoken language practice with pronunciation and grammar feedback. Homework recognition explains solution methods instead of giving direct answers. Text prompts can generate original artwork.
A 2-megapixel rear camera pairs with a front-facing camera. AI tools enable image recognition, image generation, and style conversion. Users can turn photos into animation, comic, or traditional Chinese painting styles. The phone also produces a retro CCD-style imaging effect.
Connectivity options include dual Nano SIM support with dual 4G standby, VoLTE, Wi-Fi, and hotspot sharing. A USB Type-C port handles charging and data. The handset connects to public or home Wi-Fi networks and shares its connection with tablets or laptops. Alipay QR code payments work on the device. Parents can pair it with a smartphone to set daily spending limits and review transaction records.
A customizable top button serves as an SOS key. It sends emergency alerts to preset contacts. The phone packs a 1,950mAh battery and supports USB Type-C charging.
The design features a circular rear camera module and the signature cyan finish. Interchangeable covers expand color choices. The retail package includes the phone, battery, USB Type-C cable, transparent protective case, SIM eject tool, quick start guide, and warranty card.
